Assistant Management Information Services (MIS) Manager

This position reports to the Director of Finance and Administration.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in business, computer sciences or a related field preferred.
Must have a minimum of ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in at least two (2) IT disciplines.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years management experience and responsible for a group of at least ten (10), made up of direct and indirect reports.
Must have proven professional and interpersonal skills in the areas of motivation, planning, communications, presentation, creative thinking and problem solving.
Communication skills required: reading, writing, listening, speaking, comprehension (oral and written communication skills required). Mobility to retrieve material and information from other locations necessary. Keyboard and telephone skills required.

 

Electrical Engineer

This position reports to the Chief Electrical Engineer.

Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of responsible electrical engineering experience including project management.
Must be a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
Must know construction techniques and sequences, read bluelines and building codes. Studies product technology by reviewing trade journals and manufacturer's recommendation of materials.  
Generally works independently in preparation of plans and specifications to meet deadlines; participates as part of a team in overall preparation of project plans and specifications. May seal plans and specification drawings if authorized by the Chief Electrical Engineer.

Hoseman

This position reports to the Captain-Fireboat.

Requirements:

Must have a high school education or equivalent.
Must be certified by the State of Texas as a Basis Structural Firefighter.
Must have a current certification as E.C.A or E.M.T. - Basic.
Must be physically be able to conduct suppression and hazardous materials response while wearing an air S.C.B.A.
Must be able to swim a quarter mile, lift 125 lbs. from the floor and carry it for 100 feet without stopping.

 

Project Controls Assistant

This position reports to the Project Controls Manager.

Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Construction Management or Finance.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience in construction or project management support.
Must have experience and be able to demonstrate competence with computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Office programs and internet based data management systems.
Must have Actual Cost Analysis experience and understands the principles of a Work Breakdown Structure.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
Proficiency in the use of automated accounting and cost management systems as tools for performing required duties a plus.
Experience with port and marine construction, building construction and renovation a plus.

Project Manager, P.E.

This position reports to the Project Management Supervisor.

Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and a minimum of eight (8) years responsible engineering experience, including extensive project management experience with multiple projects exceeding five (5) million dollars in costs, involving various engineering disciplines.
Must be a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
LEED Accreditation or Project Management Professional certification preferred.  
Must have extensive experience in the design and preparation of plans and technical specification writing for engineering projects. Experience with marine facilities preferred.

 

Systems Administrator

This position reports to the Technical Services Manager.

Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a minimum of three (3) years experience or a minimum of five (5) years business related experience in the administration, maintenance and support of systems, in the disciplines as required by the Port of Houston Authority: IBM AIX 5.2/5.3 and HACMP (provide details of experience for both).
Must have three (3) plus years in direct administration of systems, with one (1) year of which shall have been most recently involved in the activities above the trainee level.
Work requires the ability to read and concentrate via typing and proofreading activities up to 80% of the time.
Work is typically sedentary, but may require standing and walking for up to 70% of work time. Work will require some lifting and carrying of heavy objects for up to 50 feet.
Communication skills required: reading, writing, listening, speaking and comprehending.

Mobility is required to retrieve material and information from other locations.

PC and telephone skills required.

Technical Services Manager

This position reports to the Management Information Services Manager.

Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in a computer related area of study.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years work experience in the technical management role.
Must have working experience in the following technical requirements: IBM AIX OS (provide details of experience), Oracle Databases, Cisco 3750, 2960, 4705 type switches, routers and PIX's, Windows 2003 Servers, Exchange 2003 and Exchange configurations, Local Area Network Configurations, Wide Area Network Configurations, Disaster Recovery cold and hot site setup, Storage Area Networks and Multiple LAN Configurations.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in configuration and maintenance of IBM HACMP (provide details of experience) (the experience must be within the last five (5) years).
Must exhibit good judgment.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills.

Must be able to work well under pressure and be calm during critical/time--sensitive situation.
Must be able to manage multiple projects with changing priorities.

 

PHA Internship Program

The Port of Houston Authority’s college internship program is open to students who are permanent residents of Harris County, Texas, and currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs.

Housing and transportation are not included. Pre-employment drug screening is mandatory for all selected candidates.
